Web master's note: The following letter was written by Major Brian Westbrook and sent to the Winnipeg Free Press for publication. Major Westbrook's letter is reproduced here only through his kind permission.
Editor: I read with interest the many heart-felt tributes in the paper on 11 November on the extraordinary deeds of ''ordinary'' men & women in times of conflict and ''peace'' in this, the last Remembrance Day of the Millennium. All praise these deeds. All paint powerfully moving pictures. All say we will or we must remember. I can only imagine what these very same writers would write if they knew our Liberal Government with the blessing of our Canadian Senate siphoned off their pension surplus; money rightfully belonging to these very same ''ordinary'' men & women and their survivors.
